Films to Watch Now - September Recommendations
Editors Note: Here's a guest post from the Everett Film Festival crew, with a couple movie recommendations for ya!
The search is on: The gang at the Everett Film Festival is hard at work searching out features, shorts, and documentaries for our 20th anniversary 2017 Festival. We are also lining up some great raffle Items that local artists and craftspeople have generously donated.
Colleen Vanderhoff is donating a Seahawks Themed Quilt! We are sure it will be popular with everyone. Metal sculpture artist Mike Nordine is donating a large Heron on driftwood. Here is a link to an article about him from the Everett Herald. Stay tuned, next month we should have a picture of the heron for you.
If you would like to be a part of the Festival please check out our website here and click on "volunteer."
In the meantime: Since we are deep in the throes of the Presidential Election, check out this PBS Film about Shirley Chisholm, the 1st woman to run for president on a major ticket. She lost the nomination to George McGovern. It was 1972, and Ms. Chisholm was not only a woman, but she was also a woman of color. This film also features comments from Rep. John Lewis.
On a lighter note, Uninterrupted is a 6 minute kaleidoscope of the Salmon migration in British Columbia, with original music and Native Language chanting and speaking. You can view the film here.
