Movin’ on up… north to Everett!

We recently bought an old 1938 home right smack dab in the middle of Everett. We are not-so-patiently waiting for the rehab to be complete, which, of course, is taking MUCH longer than anticipated!

We purchased the one-family-owned home in November of 2017 and await our move in date of July 2018 with anticipation.

Here’s what we’re excited for in our new city.

1. You can purchase a really cool old house and make it your own by rehabbing

We are fully updating the kitchen and main level bath, reconfiguring the basement to include two bedrooms, an office and a full bathroom, as well as plenty of garage space for projects. At first we thought we would be able to move in May..hahaha…being newbies at this sort of thing, we had no idea of how long it all would take. There is so much involved in a rehab!

2. It’s time... change is good

Originally we were not so excited to be leaving south Snohomish County, our home and our kids’ home for the past 25 years; however, it was time for a change.  Our purchase of our beautiful and unique brick home has given us reason to begin to explore Everett as we get ready to move our lives north!

3. Fun places & new ones to find

Prior to buying our new home, we were familiar with some of what Everett has to offer. The always-delicious El Paraiso restaurant on Colby has been a favorite, and The Irishmen pub has always been great for gathering with friends to drink beer and listen to folk songs. But since we’ve been spending time in Everett we have found several other go-to restaurants that we love as well.

Our daughter who loves to act and sing will be trying out KIDSTAGE at the Performing Arts Center and both of our little ones will participate in the neighborhood art camp happening in July. This gives me hope that my kids will connect with other kids who live near us before school begins next fall (always a concern with a move and a new school.)

4. Getting involved with a new sailing community

We are also looking forward to meeting sailors. With Everett Marina being the largest public marina on the West Coast, we are hoping we can find space to move our sailboat up here and meet the sailing community.

5. New friends and faces

Each weekend brings new places to explore and experiences to be had.So cheers to meeting new people and having new experiences around town! Can’t wait to meet some of you!

Sue is a lover of art… both to create and to experience. She loves the water, loves to drive fast, loves animals, and more than any of that, loves her husband and her five kids. Meeting new people and going new places is one of her favorite things to do as well as spending time with friends and family.
