6 Local Spots to Easily Eat Vegan

Editor’s note: Originally published February 28, 2018. Updated June 10, 2021.

It’s easy to understand the increasing popularity in eating vegan when taking into account environmental impact, animal rights, climate change, world hunger and individual health, to name a few.

Everett has become a haven for the vegan community all around Snohomish County, seeking out our local restaurants and shopping at the Sno-Isle Co-op. With the emergence of local vegan restaurants, and existing ones making simple menu changes, it’s never been easier to make the change.

So let’s get to my favorite local spots to easily eat vegan.

1. Café Wylde

2918 Hoyt Ave., Everett, WA 98201 | (425) 374-3877

This place is much more than a café. Café Wylde uniquely provides their customers with delicious, healthful and visually stimulating food. I frequent there for a hot cup of their Immunity Coco with raw cacao, herbal extracts, coconut cream and agave.

A breakfast favorite is their chia bowl with almond milk, chia, banana, strawberries, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes and sprouted buckwheat. Their most popular entrées include the Bukan bowl, BBQ jackfruit sandwich and pesto pasta.

2. Café Zippy

1502 Rucker Ave, Everett, WA 98201 | (425) 303-0474

This locally owned business is a favorite not only for the plentiful vegan options, but for their funky décor and dedication to the arts. Stop in for breakfast or lunch and enjoy anything from a black bean breakfast wrap to nori rolls.

Stay late for one of their several event evenings featuring musical guests, improv comedy, poetry readings and more. I never leave this place without a “dream bar”, hemp milk latte and a flyer of upcoming events.

Raw tacos at Cafe Zippy.

3. Sol Food Bar & Grill

Sol Food is temporarily closed while looking for a new location, once reopened it’s a great spot to get an Impossible Burger! You can also substitute it for the meat on many of their main dishes. I love how this place is making even their Taco Tuesdays easy for vegans to feel welcome with each week showcasing new flavor combinations to ensure you never get bored.

4. Bob’s Burgers and Brews

1611 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett, WA 98208 | (425) 290-8308

This South Everett location is locally owned and with a ValPak coupon makes for an affordable place where everyone can find something on the menu. Their vegan options are the jalapeño black bean burger, garden chipotle Cobb salad, Thai vegetable potstickers and roasted vegetable pesto panini.

Curries at Curries.

5. Curries

7318 Evergreen Way, Everett, WA 98204 | (425) 265-1200

Curry is always a great option for vegans and this place has it down. Some of the most popular dishes include masala with fresh vegetables, ginger, garlic and cumin, chana masala with chickpeas, onion, tomatoes and pomegranate and Bhindi Do Piyaza with okra, mango powder and caramelized onions. Yum!

6. Taco Time

3805 Rucker Ave.m Everett, WA 98201 | (425) 252-4080

Now this couldn’t go without being mentioned since the realities of parenthood often land me in the car with sleeping children and a hungry belly. Drive-thrus are a must in many situations and I’m thankful for the options Taco Time offers.

The veggie burrito is fantastic, filled with refried pinto beans, seasoned rice, lettuce, homemade salsa fresca and sunflower seeds, just ask for no cheese or sour cream. Make it a meal by adding one of their many vegan-friendly sides including mexi-rice, mexi-fries, chips and salsa, chips and guacamole, beans and/or Crustos for something sweet.

Now go and enjoy these local spots serving tasty vegan eats!
