Name:
I am visual artist Ula Nero, and I save the world, one painting at a time…
Hometown:
Bialystok, Poland
Current City:
Mukilteo, WA
Your Medium/Craft:
I work with acrylics, colored pencils, pastels and all forms of mixed media. But aside from brushes and pencils I physically manipulate the canvas with my hands, sponges, blades, flame, or anything that will give me the look I envision in my mind. I always have new ideas rushing through my head where I imagine and see the final stage but it’s not always easy to put that on the canvas.
Years doing your craft:
17 years
How did you first get started in your craft?
It wasn’t a choice. Being born under the heavy hand of communism I was no stranger to suppression so to combat this art became my outlet for self-expression. Some people have a calling and they turn to theology. Art is my religion. Creating art makes my heart full like one gets in a spiritual place, it’s a wonderful feeling that I want to share with the world, and would never trade.
Favorite Artist(s) and/or Inspirations?
Nature and animals are my inspiration. Painting outside is very inspiring and healing and at the same time quite often I lose perspective of time and transport myself whenever I want to be.
What’s the most challenging part of being an artist, or something you had to overcome?
Breaking out, being recognized, making my mark as a unique artist.
How can people be supportive of the arts?
Support us! Support unknown or upcoming artists. Buy our art!
Favorite quote and/or words to live by?
Never give up, and don’t take ‘NO’ for an answer.
What's next for you?
Continue to create works of art which inspire humanity with the goal of earning commissions that allow my art to advocate for animals and the planet we call home.
Where can people see more of your art?
My website, Instagram and Facebook where I post and update on a regular basis.
