Cafe Makario Open on Colby
Editor's note: content updated 6/21/18.
Makario is a Greek word that means “how blessed you are.”
The coffee shop fills a cute little space on decorated with plants and handmade wooden furniture. Owners David and Sharon Jung make pour over coffee and have two cold brew coffee towers.
In addition to specialty espresso beverages, Makario offers organic teas and lychee lemonade. They have iced drinks and cookies, too.
David Jung, also a pastor, is very humble when asked about his endeavor.
“This is my first business in my life,” he smiles. He seems pretty optimistic about it.
He roasts all of the coffee himself off site.
David describes the experience of roasting as “a first love” for him. He also uses the word “memory” when talking about his coffee.
He wants customers to feel like he felt when he was first learning to love coffee.
“I want to deliver happiness, peace, and joy.”
The coffee is delicious and juicy, the conversation is warm.
As I leave David and Sharon call, “Makario!”
I'm glad they're in the neighborhood.
