Black Sea food truck boasts "Come Hungry, Leave Happy" and we did both things after visiting them at Crucible Brewery on Everett Mall Way. European comfort food makes me happy. Black Sea offers all the things: lamb, veggie, chicken, pork and beef. They also offer plain or fancy fries, which come topped with garlic and parmesan, for a couple of dollars more. Is there even a question of which fries to order?

My boyfriend and I invited a friend to dine with us, because you know: more people means more food. 

I ordered the lamb kebab that comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce wrapped in a thin pita. (Full disclosure: I asked them to hold the lettuce because I have a thing with warm lettuce: I intensely dislike it.) The lamb was flavorful, and the tzatziki sauce was incredible. I finished the last bite of my wrap and immediately wanted more tzatziki to dip our fancy fries in. Pita is one of my favorite types of bread, but I find sometimes it can be too thick and fluffy for a wrap. This pita was perfect. It was thicker than a tortilla and very tasty; it did not detract from the delicious fillings at all.

The boyfriend ordered the spicy sausage sub with homemade Hungarian paprika pork sausage, BBQ sauce, grilled onions and peppers on a toasted sub bun. At first, I was a little skeptical about barbecue sauce with sausage, but the sauce's sweetness really complemented the sausage. The sauce was applied like a spread, not overwhelmingly slathered on as if it were barbecued meat like I was expecting. The sausage was seasoned beautifully with a little bit of heat from the paprika; it ranked mild on spice on our scale. I feel like it could have had a bit more onions and peppers, but overall it was a very tasty meal. The plus side to the amount of filling is that it was very portable and didn't require a bib, 35 napkins, and a post-meal shower.

The fancy fries didn't disappoint either. Standard delicious crinkle-cut french fries perfectly fried and dressed liberally with garlic and shredded parmesan cheese. We dipped our fancy fries in ketchup, but I think I'll order a side of tzatziki for dipping next time.

Our friend ordered the house special Shaorma wrap with grilled marinated chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, fries, tzatziki, ketchup, and garlic aioli in a thin pita. She reports that between the veggies, chicken, and fries, it had great textures and the perfect amount of tzatziki. As a personal preference, she would have liked the pickles on the side to eat separately, but that obviously didn't detract from her experience as the wrap was gone in minutes.

The only suggestion I have, aside from "order one of everything", is to keep your wrap or sub wrapped in the paper it comes in while you eat. It will save you from losing all that deliciousness to your lap or the ground.
