When the weather changes and the days get darker, so does the beer scene in Everett. The light, airy summer seasonals make way for the more hoppy, dark and Oktoberfest-y brews.
Here’s what some local breweries are brewing up for fall. Bundle up, grab your best scarf and brave the elements for a delicious pint.

Scuttlebutt is offering up four German-style beers for their Oktoberfest happening October 13, but until then, you can’t go wrong with a pint of their 10 Below. An “Imperial Dunkelweiss spiced with molasses with a medium body and rich chocolate finish,” 10 Below is the perfect beer to cozy up to on a rainy night.

Middleton Brewing always goes big (and a bit wacky) for seasonal beers, and this year is no exception. Try the pumpkin pie porter or, if you’re really brave, go for the Breakfast First stout — brewed with Cookie Crisp cereal (for real). A gingerbread red ale and a raspberry stout round out Middleton’s fall offerings.

Crucible Brewing Co. (Everett’s best brewery EVVY winner) comes to the table with a more tame taplist than their South Everett neighbors — the O'zapft Oktoberfest is as traditional of an Oktoberfest brew as you can get, but the Bellfounder porter is made with both pumpkin and yams if you’re looking for something more adventurous.

At Large brews their Oktoberfest with the Reinheitsgebot (German purity laws) in mind, meaning that only four ingredients are used to craft their beer — barley, hops, water and yeast. Want to get even more German? At Large also offers a German Hefeweizen. Going dark? Try the Stakeout Stout — a nitro-tap oatmeal stout.

Lazy Boy Brewing

Lazy Boy is brewing up two fall seasonal beers for you to enjoy. Their Belgian Golden debuts Friday October 12 and is a semi-sweet Belgian style ale and on Halloween, look for the debut of Lazy Boy’s Oatmeal Stout, a one-off beer they brew once every couple of years. Exclusive!
