Meet the Everett Running Group

This story is brought to you by Live in Everett Member ESC Mattress Center.

There are so many reasons to run. The calorie-burning, the cardio, the social media humblebrag (“Happy to be reaching my goals! #blessed”).

But really, there are so many reasons not to run. Like Netflix and the internet as experienced from the comfort of your couch. The memes, the streams, and avoiding all of that general discomfort and shortness of breath....

Hence the expanding waistlines of quarantine season.

The Everett Running Club can help to remove some of the obstacles that are keeping you from lacing up those running shoes.

Their runs are a weekly social event* based in South Everett, and there’s power in numbers. They meet up every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Crucible Brewing on Everett Mall Way.

You can bring your dog, in fact, it’s encouraged. And you get to drink beer. Like, they meet up weekly at a pub to go running and then drink beer. Sometimes Crucible hosts a food truck, too.

Run a slow 5K? No problem — all fitness levels are welcome.

The running club’s weekly routes branch off from Crucible. Runners can opt into 2.2-, 3.1-, 4-, and 5-mile routes that can be synched up with the GPS fitness app Strava. The routes all include part of the Interurban Trail.

So if you’re looking for a reason to stop binge-watching The Office for the third time this year, visit the Everett Running Group website and mark your calendar. It’s time to meet new friends IRL (Ross, Chandler, Monica, etc. don’t count).

Go get that much-needed endorphin rush as colder weather settles in. As 2020 runs its course, we’ve got a long road ahead of us: it pays to stay sharp and strong.

*Like, how social is social in the time of Covid-19? The group’s website had the following disclaimer: “Use your best judgment in regards to social distancing and mask-wearing. Per current restrictions - up to 5 per table at Crucible and no table-to-table mingling. Masks are required to order.”
