Three Fish Tacos and Horchata, Please: Raliberto's Taco Shop

Three fish tacos and horchata, please. That’ll be my order when I go back to Raliberto’s Taco Shop, which will likely be very soon.

I love fish tacos and like to try them whenever they’re on the menu. I find the flavors and textures of a fish taco very satisfying. Spicy, salty, tangy, crispy, creamy. Umami. The tangy comes from lime. It is an essential part of a fish taco so I don’t know why it is always on the side.

When I heard about Raliberto’s on 128th, I was not sure what everyone was talking about because I’ve never seen it. And it’s been there for 10 years. Turns out it is tucked into the shopping complex with Great American Casino and KFC/A&W.

Once you see Raliberto’s, there is no way to miss it again even if you’re in the deranged traffic on 128th. The building is beautifully painted in fun, bold colors and it’s easy to get to if you use the stoplight on 4th Ave W and Mariner Square.

I ordered lunch to split with my son. We each got a fish taco and I also ordered a crispy shredded beef taco, a bean and cheese burrito and horchata.

I’ve never had horchata and I’ve been missing out. It tasted like rice pudding with extra cinnamon and over ice, it’s like a refreshing comfort food. I only got a little taste because the rest disappeared into my son’s room.

The. Fish. Taco. Was. So. Good. Served with one white corn tortilla, grilled not steamed, it was a smaller-sized street taco with fried breaded white fish (probably cod), pico de gallo, lettuce and white sauce. Oh, and it was $2.25 so I can definitely swing getting three next time.

The bean and cheese burrito was also so delicious. The beans had just the right amount of saltiness and were very creamy, so much so you do not want to eat it on the go like you would a street taco. There are combination plates on the menu that come with rice and beans and you can also order a pint of beans on the side order menu that would be so good for dipping chips at home.

The crispy shredded beef taco was a little too crispy for me, but the shredded beef was excellent and I would recommend ordering it on any of the other menu items that include tostadas, tortas, enchiladas and chimichangas.

Raliberto’s Taco Shop was a great find for me because it’s just a short drive from my house. If you’re coming from north Everett it’ll be easy for you too because it is just off of 1-5. They have dine-in as well as a drive-thru window but expect orders to take a little longer to fill than a fast food restaurant because everything's made to order. Raliberto’s is open for breakfast with some excellent-looking breakfast burritos on the menu and they’re open until midnight for a late-night stop.

Where is your favorite spot for fish tacos? Let me know in the comments.
