Whippersnapper Grub: 3 Kid-Friendly Food Finds in Everett

I always like to support local businesses, but sometimes it can be tricky to find a good kids menu. As my toddler and I have explored more restaurants around Everett together, these are a few favorites we’ve found so far.

Lite Bite Menu (No age limit specified)

Totem Diner
4410 Rucker Avenue
Everett, WA 98203
(425) 252-3277

The Totem Diner is one of Everett’s oldest and most beloved diners. They don’t technically have an official “kids’ menu,” but their “Lite Bite” menu does the job all the same. From classic breakfast options like french toast or eggs, bacon, and a pancake. They even have a Jr. European French Toast with vanilla, cinnamon & nutmeg topped with almonds. Chicken tenders, a burger, or fish and chips are options on the Lite Bite menu as well. Lately, though, my daughter and I have just been sharing the #2, which comes with two big pancakes and two eggs. The pancakes are so huge (and delicious!) and it’s the perfect amount of food for the two of us. Rounded out with great vibes and friendly service, you can’t go wrong with whatever you order at the Totem, but they’re especially famous for their bacon!

Whippernsnapper Grub (Ages 7 and under)

Strawberry Patch Cafe
2718 Colby Ave
Everett, WA 98201
(425) 339-2257

My least favorite, but certainly the funniest option on Strawberry Patch’s kids’ menu is “The Bandit.” Described as, “an empty plate… so you know, your kids can steal your food. $0.”

Other fun options that come with food, include what my daughter opted for, the Teddy Bear Toast. It is a piece of peanut butter toast with bananas and raisins that make a cute teddy bear face. There’s also the Sunshine Banana Split yogurt, Itsy Teeny Weeny Mini Wini Burger, and more. Your child may even find some free sticker packs coming their way to add to the privacy walls between the booths. Worst case, they’ll be mesmerized by all the fun colorful quirky decor, the pink disco ball, and of course, the wall of lollipops!

Hungry Matey Kids’ Menu (Ages 12 and under)

Scuttlebutt Family Pub
1205 Craftsman Way #101
Everett, WA 98201
(425) 257-9316

Not only does Scuttlebutt have a “Hungry Matey” kids’ menus, but the menu even has fun little pictures to color. And yes, they provide crayons! Kids’ menu options range from pizza to mac and cheese, tomato linguini, and more. My daughter opted for one of her favorites, grilled cheese, served up with melty cheddar on toasted sourdough. It also came with a side of mandarin oranges and a few pickles to boot. I tried a couple bites, you know, for the story, and it definitely tasted like good old classic grilled cheese. For ma and pa, Scuttlebutt, of course, has a great selection of their in-house brews. They’re also well known for their house-made root beer, too. And the location is perfect to pair with some seal spotting on the Everett Waterfront or a run through Boxcar Park.

honorable mention

Ivar’s
1520 41st St
Everett, WA 98201
(425) 252-9292

I also want to give an honorable mention to Ivar’s on 41st street. They do have a few kids’ menu options, including chicken strips or fish and chips. On a recent visit my daughter opted for the chicken with french fries. Her favorite parts were the Andes mint that came with, as well a rare treat for her, lemonade. I was happy they had multiple different flavors of traditional and sugar-free lemonade. I filled her up with strawberry lemonade … just don’t tell her it was sugar-free!
