Spot Check: Crucible Brewing
We always get a little excited when a new business opens in Everett. We get REALLY excited when its a brewery. So, when we first spotted Everett's new Crucible Brewing we made it a point to pull over and give it a go. You know, for our jobs.
Anyway, a quick qualifier here for all beer snobs. We went at 3 P.M. on a Thursday and we only had one beer each (day drinking during the week never ends well). We both had dark beers (because it's fall, also they were out of IPA) and we're not craft beer aficionados (I like Miller High Life, for example). So if you're looking for a legit review on beer, you'll have to wait until we have a beer writer for the blog (if you want to do this email us).
So the first thing you'll notice when you walk in is that the place smells like a brewery. It's not just a taproom, they brew onsite and it smells delicious. If you haven't had the pleasure of smelling wort as it's boiling, it's a nice earthy kind of pungent smell. Also, they have an all-ages section, so you don't have to leave the kids in the car. Just kidding, don't do that.
I ordered a brown ale, which I thought was similar to Diamond Knot's brown – a nice balance of hops and malt, easy drinking, a little sweet to have more than a couple. Garret ordered the stout, he said it was full-bodied, well balanced, malty goodness. The vibe feels a little like they just opened (which they did so this isn't a knock) and they're still figuring out placement of furniture. However, they have tons of different seating options and sweet setups for groups of friends to hang and watch the game, or whatever.
We got a glimpse of their brewing operation in the back and it's a legit microbrewery that could fit in an old North Everett one car garage. The small stature is something we appreciated, you can tell these guys love making beer and decided to take their home brewing game to the next level and opened up their own brewery (bravo dudes). The small team of staffmembers were really nice, super approachable, and gave off great vibes. They took their time to answer all of our questions, deal with my crippling indecisiveness and offered up tastings if we wanted 'em.
In terms of food, there is no food, but rumor has it a Cajun style restaurant will be opening sooner than later and they'll be coming over to the brewery to take orders. Also, Qdoba is next door (yessss). All in all, we thought it was great, we'll be back fo' sho'. Check out the photos below, or even better, go check out the brewery for yourself.
