5 Fast Favorites: Officer Kerby Duncan, Everett Police Department

Everett PD officer Kerby Duncan patrols downtown by bike or by squad car, so he knows Everett’s hidden gems and secret spots as good as anyone.

Check out officer Duncan’s favorite spots in Everett and listen to our interview with officer Duncan from episode 121 of the Live in Everett Podcast.

1. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT TO TELL FRIENDS ABOUT?

Funko

The purveyors of pop culture. How can you not crack a smile when walking past Funko HQ on Wetmore? We like popping in every once and awhile to see what’s new. Our desks always need some more flair!

We wrote about how Instagram-worthy Funko HQ is.

2. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT TO GET OUTSIDE?

Howarth Park

Officer Duncan likes to take his dog to Howarth Park—the park offers both fields and a sandy beach for off-leash doggy fun. Hang out on the people bridge over the railroad tracks and wait for a train to rumble by.

Learn more about the history of Howarth Park.

3. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT HANDS DOWN.

Funko Field

The newly-renamed home of the Everett AquaSox, Funko’s new naming rights brought all sorts of Funko Pop! giveaways, new signage and a massive Freddy Funko Pop! statue on the berm in right field.

Read about the changes to Everett Memorial Stadium (now Funko Field).

4. FAVORITE ANNUAL EVENT IN EVERETT?

Cruzin’ to Colby

Vintage rides fill downtown Everett every Memorial Day weekend for this event honoring 1950s Everett car culture. The Cruze has grown drastically since its inception in 1999, and Officer Duncan finally got to experience the Cruze after working the night shift for years.

We wrote about the 20th anniversary of Cruzin’ to Colby this year.
We also walked around the show.

5. FAVORITE HIDDEN GEM IN EVERETT?

Tacobook

Some say the best tacos in North Everett (we’re just the messenger!), Tacobook is tucked away next to a dry cleaners on Broadway. If that doesn’t scream “hidden gem,” I don’t know what does.

We ate there on camera.
