Best of 2022: Our Top 5 Stories of the Year

Happy New Year!

With 2022 in the books, we thought we’d share some ‘best of’ roundups for the year. First up, we’re kicking things off with a roundup of our top 5 stories from the year.

Madison Avenue Pub

In May we published a story on Madison Avenue Pub, “No Sign No Website and Killing It.” And judging by how many people read this article, they are killing it indeed. Spoiler alert, I drove by the Madison the other day and noticed they do have a sign now, so the place is probably even busier now than ever. But with live entertainment seven nights a week and a full menu to choose from, I suppose that’s par for the course.

Cup & Crepe

In July Linda War Bonnet enjoyed a little “lunchfest” with her son at Everett’s new Cup and Crepe. Everett’s only creperie. A very welcome (and delicious) addition to Everett. Plus they make good coffee, you can take your photo with Walter the Gnome out front, and they recently won King 5’s ‘best new restaurant’ award, so it’s a win-win all around.

Everett Skate Deck

In February, Richard Porter shared a story on a more somber note, about the Everett Skate Deck closing down. An Everett institution with decades of rich memories. It’s always sad to see such a delightful community-centric business close. And apparently you all took notice as well, making it one of our most read stories of the year.

Sushi Ring

Everett doesn’t have many sushi restaurants or all-you-can-eat opportunities, which may just have been the winning combination that made this story by Rachel Weatherholt so popular. Work up your sushi appetite and give it a read. Sushi lovers will not be dissappointed … As long as you can manage to follow the rules.

2021 Best of Stories

Ironically, some of our top stories of 2022 included our ‘best of’ roundups for 2021. Our ‘Top 5 New Businesses of 2021’ made the list, as did our ‘Least and Most Expensive Home Sales of 2021’. I guess you guys like ‘best of’ lists, but then again, who doesn’t? And don’t worry; we plan to do fresh roundups for the above-aforementioned categories later this month, so stay tuned!

A number of our other top-read stories also included local events, such as Sorticulture, The Everett Food Truck Festival & Upper Left Beerfest, and Music at the Marina. Keep your eyes peeled for all of these events (hopefully) to return in 2023. You can keep up with local events by subscribing to our Weekly Goodness newsletter.

Thanks for following along with us in 2022. Here’s to another year of Everett Goodness!
