ChildStrive (formerly known as the Little Red Schoolhouse) is a nonprofit headquartered on Casino Road.
They offer in-home programs that benefit children aged 0-5 and their parents. Nurses and social workers help eligible families to navigate hardship and stressful situations, whether it’s early life with a disability, a young parent living with a mental illness, or non-English-speaking parents trying to start a career.
ChildStrive gives these families tools to achieve their goals.
This month ChildStrive is putting on an event for the community at Legion Memorial Park called Strides for ChildStrive. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. It’s part outreach event and part fundraising 5K fun run.
Strides for ChildStrive is trying to raise a total of $25,000 through a combination of sponsorships and individual runners, all for a good cause.
The event is also designed to connect isolated families to the community at large.
“Families don’t exist in a vacuum, they’re a part of our community. We need a community that is cohesive and ready to work together. We want our [clients] to feel like we are here for them,” says Rebecca Mauldin, Marketing and Development Manager at ChildStrive.
Strides for ChildStrive attendees can expect a family-friendly fall fun vibe. Besides the race there will be a barbeque lunch, cotton candy, hula-hoops, and classic carnival games like ring toss, corn hole, and bubbles. The event coordinators work hard to make the carnival accessible to everyone.
If you’d like to attend the carnival only, you don’t need to register in advance. It’s a free event and no RSVP is needed.
Want to get involved in the race? You can sign up to be a fundraising participant or you can even sign up a whole team to raise money for this worthy cause.
