Five Tips For Getting Your Outdoor Movie On

There’s nothing like summer in Everett. From bumming around the beaches with family to enjoying a cocktail on the water with friends, there’s always something to do when the sun is out.

Now you can add outdoor movies to the list. Cinema Under the Stars in Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake and Sail-in Cinema at Boxcar Park both offer different films in different settings (you can even anchor your boat at Boxcar Park!) to get your summer movie watch on.

Here’s five tips on how to enjoy Everett’s outdoor movies.

1. Get Cozy, Warm and Comfy

As soon as the sun goes down, it gets cold. Bring a blanket, a jacket and get the kids into their PJs for maximum warmth and maximum cozyness. Bring a couple lawn chairs, too! Both events are dog friendly, so the whole family can snuggle together.

2. Get There Early

You want the best seat in the house, right? Well you gotta get there early. Both are extremely popular, so give yourself enough time to get there before the show.

3. Bring Snacks

No need to shell out a bunch of cash on the tiniest box of Raisinets you’ve ever seen. Load up on snacks and pack them in! You could even bring dinner if you want to. Sail-in does offer popcorn if you forget yours at home.

4. Make It a Date!

With Bluewater and Scuttlebutt so close to Boxcar Park, make it a date! You can’t bring in outside alcohol to both events, so leave the flask at home, but you can enjoy craft cocktails, beer and food before you walk to your movie. Want to have a bev while watching the film? At Sail-in, adult beverages are available.

5. Float in

For Sail-in Cinema, you can watch by boat! Moor your vessel at the Port of Everett’s North Guest Docks 6 & 7 for a unique viewing experience. You can even tune into a radio frequency to get the movie’s audio on your wicked-cool nautical soundsystem. Pro Tip: It is first come, first served.
