When he was 19 years old, Kevin Hines jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. He was trying to kill himself, but he failed. 2000 people have tried to kill themselves by jumping off the bridge since it was built in the 1930s. Only one percent of jumpers survive the fall.

Kevin was among that one percent. He was a statistical anomaly.

Now Hines — an award-winning speaker, author and filmmaker — tells his story of survival to others. He brings awareness to the importance of mental health and encourages hurting people to seek help.

Hines’ videos about suicide prevention have been watched over 250 million times on social media.

He says his message is one of hope, healing, and recovery.

On the evening of Friday, September 14, 2018 Hines will be the keynote speaker at the Compass Health Annual Gala to be held at the Tulalip Resort Casino.

All proceeds from the event will go to two camps for at-risk youth: Camp Outside the Box and Camp Mariposa.

The Compass mental health professionals and counselors at the camps will help 120 kids with relationship-building, communications skills, and pro-social behaviors.

The Compass Health Annual Gala will be on the formal side: cocktail attire is requested and tickets are $100 a person. Discounted rooms at the Tulalip Resort Casino are available for gala attendees.

The message of Kevin Hines is that all people can thrive and be mentally well. This is a message you, too, can send to underprivileged kids.

“I’m honored to be the keynote speaker,” says Hines. “The two youth camps that this gala directly supports are imperative in assisting kids who may have nowhere else to turn. I know because I was one of those kids, and these programs save lives."
