3 Films to Watch Now

Editors Note: Here's a guest post from the Everett Film Festival crew with a few movie recommendations for our readers.

1) From Jorn Threlfall is a short film Over, that is a re-enactment of a true event. Filmed in REVERSE CHRONOCOLOGICAL ORDER, this format really engages the viewer in trying to determine what had happened. It is unusual and well worth watching for the surprising and shocking end. Watch now.

2) Next is a great interview with Chuck Close, a Northwest native. As you may know Schack Art Center is currently offering an exhibit of his work. If you have not yet seen it, then this video will certainly inspire you to go. The exhibit will be at Schack through September 5, 2016. This Youtube film, Chuck Close: Portraits in Progress can be viewed here.

3) Lastly, here's a real treat, a video of Will-i-am singing Mona Lisa’s Smile in the style of Kehinde Wiley’s paintings. Seattle Art Museum had a great exhibit of Kehinde Wiley’s portraits that unfortunately has concluded. Also in this link is a short tour of the Louvre hosted by Will-i-am with the curator of the Decorative Arts Department of the Louvre. This does take a little work to get to….. You must go to Secrets of Paris #173 and then you may have to “join” the newsletter.  No worries, it’s free, and then scroll down to the Will-i-am links.

Our volunteers began previewing films for the 2017 festival last week. We found a couple of shorts that are very promising and we will be watching more films in July.  If you would like to be a part of the previewing and selection process, click here. Here’s a pic of some of the volunteers after our last meeting.

Short Film Competition
There are still two more months for amateur film makers to submit a 3-5 minute film for our competition. There are 4 cash prizes for the winners. Get the details here.
