Do military museums sanitize information about war when presenting it in a museum exhibit? If so, why and what effect does that decision have on the visitors? Do the visitors leave without a complete understanding of the war era or is it appropriate to limit or remove the more horrific aspects of war in order to remain sensitive to the audience’s sensibilities?
These questions are asked and answered by guest speaker and Museum of Flight Volunteer Services Specialist Rebecca Harmsen. She delves into how museums tackle these difficult questions by looking at a variety of military institutions across the nation and highlighting how different museums handle the issue.
