FILM PREMIERE AND AMGRAF FUNDRAISER
PTK kicks off Friday with a special movie screening of “Prophets, Teachers and Kings,” an award-winning film that’s an inside look at the dark and sometimes dangerous world of one of Los Angeles’ oldest graffiti crews, and their 35-year rise from juvenile delinquency to urban art infamy.
There will be an discussion following the film with John Carswell, collector of the DogTown Collection; Devin Rice, movie director and cinematographer; and Cornbread, the Philadelphia graffiti legend credited as the world’s first graffiti artist. This is a not-to-be-missed event.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for an open house. The movie begins at 8 p.m. Movie discussion with John Carswell begins at 9:30 p.m. with cocktails at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $25, available here. Tickets will benefit the American Graffiti & Urban Art Conservation Project located inside the APEX Art & Culture Center.
SATURDAY, AUG. 17
BREAK FUN WTH 206 ZULU
206 Zulu x PTK present Zulu Throwdown. This will include an all-ages community dance workshop, exhibition battles featuring top Seattle male and female break dancers and open kids dance competition. All kids are welcome to participate. Exhibition dancers include Bgirl Naj @NajTheMirage and Bboy Guillotine @MrGuillotine2012. DJ’s Jointz @jointz1980 and D’Lemma @djdlemma will provide the beats for everyone to dance to.
DJs kick off at 2 p.m. with the exhibitions and battle from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Supported by Snohomish County and Everett LTAC grants, this community event is partnering with 206 Zulu.
