6 Things to Know for Fresh Paint 2019

Look, we all have that one bare wall that has nothing on it in our home. You stare at it and think "man... I need to put something there besides my certificate for completing the Fun Run in 5th grade."

If that's you, you need to get to Fresh Paint: A Festival of Artists at Work. Here's six things you need to know before grabbing that special piece August 18 and 19 at the Port of Everett Marina.

1. Bring Cash

Many vendors will have the ability to take cards, but bring a wad of money just in case — you don't want to lose your newest piece to someone else because you didn't have enough real money. Left your cash at home? There will be ATMs for you, just in case. See a full list of vendors here

2. Prepare for the Weather

You'll do a lot of walking, so make sure you rock some comfy kicks down to the marina. We'd suggest wearing a hat and slathering on some sunscreen, too, especially if you're taking part in the Float Find on Jetty Island. You might also take water to stay hydrated while you browse.

3. Ride Everett Transit

The Schack Art Center wants you to take mass transit to get to the festival, and you really should. Besides being a good person for taking the bus, you can also forgo the $2 parking fee to park at the Port and score a free tote bag for riders on Route 6. Need a route map? Here you go

4. Take a Trip to Jetty Island

The Float Find on Jetty Island is one of the highlights of Fresh Paint. A quick ferry ride from the marina takes you to one of Everett's hidden gems (we love Jetty Island) to search for your very own glass float made by the Schack hot shop hidden along the beach. The Float Find starts Saturday at 10:30 a.m., so hop on that ferry early.

5. Come Hungry

Food trucks will be out and about and ready to serve up some tasty foods just for you. Offerings include Anthony's Seafood, Caribbean Cuisine, hot dogs and more.

6. Get Ready to Dance

Alongside the vendors, the Float Find on Jetty Island and food trucks, live music will also be happening over the course of Fresh Paint. Including sets from The Winterlings, The Porters and Killinsworth. See the full lineup.
