Hi. Let me introduce you to your new favorite sandwich shop in Everett: Bodega on Broadway. Your one-stop shop for snacks, wine, deluxe sandwiches, Ramyun, and adult bevvies on tap.

To me, sandwiches are the perfect meal. They’re handheld and portable, can be loaded up with as much veggie or meat as you want, and are highly customizable. We make a lot of sandwiches at home, but there is something about a deli sandwich that I can’t seem to replicate. Everett has been lacking a solid and consistent sandwich shop, so I feel very lucky that the owners of the West Seattle Super Deli Mart decided to open another location here in Everett.

I keep a Google map list of places we want to try and one rainy Sunday in March, we were seeking a post-hike beer and a good sandwich; Bodega on Broadway was the answer. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly and spent some time reading the sandwich and beer menu before deciding on a Bad Apple cider for me and a Manny’s for the boyfriend. For sandwiches, I ordered the Italian, no lettuce, on a hoagie and the boyfriend picked the Cheesy British, with American cheese, on sourdough. Their standard condiments are mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. The bread choices are white bread, sourdough, rye, wheat, nine grain, and hoagie roll. For an upcharge, you can add extra condiments or cheeses; you can even make it a double meat sandwich.

The shop has a unique layout: the cashier and deli counter are in the center, snacks are off to the right of the counter, and on the left of the counter are beautiful wood slab tables with chairs, televisions with a different sport on each, wine for sale, the Ramyun counter, and the restrooms. They even have a bar-height table running between the shelves of snacks, complete with bar stools and another TV.

We settled in at a 4-top and dug in. The sandwiches were not so loaded with toppings that you had to have a flip-top head, but they still had a good amount of ingredients. The breads were toasted so they were crunchy, but not the crunchy that rips your lips to shreds. The boyfriend took his first bite and started nodding and grunting, so I knew he was happy with his Cheesy British with roast beef, ham, and turkey on it. The Italian has salami, provolone, mortadella, and Italian dressing; the first bite was enough to know we would be returning, and soon.

The Italian

Bodega on Broadway had only been open 10 days when we visited, so I was glad to see they had a decent amount of people coming in for to-go orders or to buy snacks. The two women behind the counter were very helpful, incredibly sweet, and a joy to chat with. Take this as your cue to head over and get lunch; I’ll see you there.
