Save Room for Pie: Pie Dive Bar

I had to dive real deep for this story. Into pie. At the Pie Dive Bar just across the trestle from Everett in the charming town of Snohomish.
For this outing, there were four of us, coming from around the county with a hankering for cocktails, mocktails and pie. Lucky for us, it just so happened that the Pie Dive Bar could deliver on all of that.

This dive bar is cleverly fun. It has the rough, yet more charming, decor of a more well-worn, traditional dive bar but, in this case instead of a dark spot smelling of beer and sorrows, this place is bright and smells like, well, pie!
While this dive bar has a pretty extensive drink menu offering beer, wine and cocktails it also has numerous mocktails you can select from as well. What is really fun, though, are the pies. The food menu isn't extensive. You get six savory pies to choose from and 10 sweet pies. We were there for both.

I have generous friends who had your back, dear reader, and they each volunteered to try a different pie for this story. So, I can happily report that the chicken pie, the chicken curry pie, the Thanksgiving pie and the Shepherd's pie were all pronounced delicious. One clarification, the pies don't come like little pot pies as we were expecting. Instead, they are slices of pies with a rocket lettuce beet salad served on the plate. A mound of mashed potatoes topped the Shepherd's pie, as expected, but the rest were full crust pies, and the crust was as good as the fillings. Flaky like grandma makes! And, while it is served year-round, this is certainly the season to head there for their Thanksgiving pie. It was packed with all the fixings - turkey, potatoes, celery, gravy and even cranberries and stuffing. Gobble gobble.
Naturally, for research purposes, of course, three of us saved room for dessert pie. I personally had the banana bourbon cream pie which, to my surprise, came with vanilla ice cream on the side. Sweet on sweet. We also tried the cookies & cream pie and their Humble Crumble which is apples and assorted berries and a Food Network Winner which is a pretty cool distinction. All three were a little unique and would make a great late treat after a day of holiday shopping.

Two quick negatives: They are not open for lunch except on weekends and this is not a place for vegetarians /vegans unless you are just looking for dessert pie. All of the savory pies contain meat. (Note to Pie Dive Bar - why not offer a vegetable version? I know you could make it yummy.)
Despite its name, the Pie Dive Bar is family-friendly with children welcome and the evening we were there offered live music which added to the ambience. Oh, and eastsiders, their website shared that a second location is set to open in November in Gold Bar. Sounds like a perfect new spot to stop at on the way back to Everett from a long day of skiing.
Whatever location you choose, this is a place you can dive headfirst into a whole lot of pies with a side of fun!
