24-Hour Diner Opens on West Hewitt
Friday night has turned into Saturday morning. The bars are closing and you need something hot and filling to eat.
You want greasy spoon diner food while you sober up. You want to linger with some friends in a booth to keep the big conversations going.
Comfort Cafe on Hewitt Avenue is your place.
Conveniently (perhaps strategically) located between the Soundview Bar & Grill and Anchor Pub, Comfort Cafe dishes up hashbrowns, eggs, coffee, and homemade pastries around the clock from Thursday morning through Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
They are also open daytime during most of the work week.
The food isn’t off the charts, in my opinion. I ordered a veggie scramble. It was straight okay. The homemade cinnamon roll for desert was gooey and sweet in the right way.
The CC offers traditional American food complete with the glass Heinz ketchup bottles on the table and mugs of drip coffee. The menu mostly revolves around potatoes, eggs, and toast. If you're looking for typical diner fare, this is it.
Their main thing is serving breakfast all day with a few lunch items. They have about 6 to 8 daily specials and the specials rotate.
The cozy setting has a few booths and small tables. The place is pretty cute: the plate glass windows have a view of the mountains and Everett’s notorious Muffler Man.
Comfort Cafe just opened last week. It seems like the family-owned business is still figuring out business practices and getting up to speed. The servers were quick with a coffee refill, which I truly appreciate.
Comfort Cafe has good bones and shows a lot of promise. I can see it becoming a staple hangout for a certain crowd of young nightlife types and I think that’s needed in our city.
Check it out and see for yourself.
