Get Produce Straight from a Family Farm at Crowsfeet Farmstead
Are you a fan of local produce, as fresh as you can get it? There are lots of farms in Snohomish County you can visit and CSA’s to join, but Crowsfeet Farmstead in Everett is a little different. Originally founded as the Johnson Berry Farm in 1887 on 166 acres by Iver and Caroline Johnson, the farm eventually grew to 400 acres. Over the years, parcels were sold off but 12 acres remained in the family, eventually sold by Bob and Laura Johnson to their granddaughter Aimee Henson and her husband Patrick Nelson.
They raise Katahdin sheep, Muscovy duck, tayberries, heirloom apples and seasonal vegetables, plus live herb plants, vegetable starts, flowers and native plant species. Their fresh sheet lists what's in season and what will be available throughout the year.
Get a lifetime membership in the Crow's Club for $20 to earn discounts on produce and plants, plus exclusive specials and gifts when you visit the farm. You'll also be invited to events like the Corvus Wing-Ding, the annual member appreciation party. I really wanted to go last year, but couldn't make it because I happened to throw a party the same day. My good friend Stephanie was there and sent me a lot of great photos*.
If you like great food, don't miss this party. Nelson's a chef with 22 years of kitchen and special event experience. In August, he'll represent Washington for the second year in a row at Flavored Nation, a culinary competition in Columbus, Ohio.
Crowsfeet Farmstead is available to rent for private events, too. With Nelson's culinary and event-planning experience, you'll be well taken care of. Need full catering and a stage with a sound system? Want to arrive by limo? Not a problem.
Supporting a small family farm is a rewarding way to elevate your cooking and the drive out to the farm is a relaxing way to enjoy some of Everett's most beautiful scenery. Sign up today so you can check out all they have to offer at the next Corvus Wing-Ding on August 10th.
*Stephanie wouldn't let me pay her for photos, so I'll quickly plug her business instead.
