Sorticulture 2022: What You Need to Know to Go

Other than picking a perfectly ripe red tomato from their garden, I think the only thing a gardener loves more is getting things for their garden—trellises, birdfeeders, wind chimes, sedums, stepping stones, plants and more plants.

Sorticulture is Everett’s annual garden art festival, and it will make any gardener’s heart sing. Here’s what you need to know to go.

When

June 10 - 12, 2022

Friday, June 10, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, June 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Note that it runs on Sunday, so you can hit up Sorticulture and the Everett Farmers Market if you have it in you.

Where

Colby Avenue between Everett and Pacific Avenues

I know it is a little controversial to some, but Sorticuture will be downtown again this year. While its traditional location at Legion Memorial Park among the old oak trees felt pretty magical, it is a logistical nightmare for vendors, those of us purchasing large items and people with accessibility challenges – especially when it rains. I volunteered last year, spoke with many people, and they overwhelmingly preferred the downtown location.

What

There will be 150 vendors, significantly more than last year, selling everything from birdhouses to garden sculptures and carnivorous plants to rare conifers. Here is the vendor lineup. Admission is free.

How

I usually like to browse everything, noting what I’d like to purchase and then go back through and pick up those things. I think this event is too big for that, and last year many vendors sold out of merchandise, so if you see something, you better grab it. If it is difficult to carry with you, drop it at package pick-up and it will be super easy to drive your car up to pick it up when you’re done shopping.

Getting There

Parking in downtown is free, and there is no time limit after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all weekend. Free parking at Everpark is a breeze and is free after 6 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Sharing Wheels Community Bikeshop will provide free valet bike parking if you opt to bike. Learn about other options, including transit, here

Food and Drink

Being in Downtown Everett will give you tons of options to take a break and enjoy a meal. Check out our Dinner Guide of ideas. Most of them should be open for lunch too. In addition, there will be some snack vendors and a beer and wine garden.

Entertainment

Sunnyside Nursery will host classes, and everyone’s favorite, Ciscoe Morris, will speak at the festival stage at Hewitt and Colby Avenues. There will be musical performances from great local artists, including Fretland, The Porters and Shoecraft. Check out the festival schedule here

So there you have it, what you need to know about Sorticulture 2022. I hope you are as excited as I am to get more things for your garden. See you there.
