Spot Check: Hot Rod Heidi's & Sunken Ship Tattoo

Hot Rod Heidi’s Vintage Closet & Sunken Ship Tattoo is a treasure trove for lovers of all things vintage, a haven for those who enjoy something outside the norm, a community hub buzzing (literally) with eagerness for new tattoos and piercings.

I feel better knowing that this place exists here in Everett.

Heidi’s vintage shop evolved from a small pop-up to various locations in Everett, and finally its current location on Grand and Hewitt. The vintage collection ranges from luxurious coats and cocktail dresses to boots and nostalgic home decor. The best thing about vintage? It’s reused, it’s unique and the selection is always changing. The dresses are super fun, and it’s a great spot to go and peruse.

If you’re not in the market for some cool vintage gems, you can always hop on over to the other side of the shop at Sunken Ship Tattoo and make an appointment for a tattoo or piercing. Matt, Heidi’s husband, is a tattoo artist and Heidi is a piercer. Heidi and her husband Matt are badass business owners; there’s no getting around it.

Matt and Heidi have earned their place on the prominent corner of Grand and Hewitt and deserve all the accolades for their business savvy and persistence. Due to city regulations, unlike the Vintage Closet’s main entrance on Hewitt, customers enter the tattoo shop on Grand Avenue. Both shops are under the same roof in one giant space. The shop is sprinkled with some local history—for example, their display case is from an old top hat store here in Everett.

The painting and decorating is all their handiwork.

They are a busy duo, always starting new projects—from working on their Everett home with vintage flair to fixing up their home away from home in Eastern WA, recently featured on the Netflix show Amazing Interiors.
