My Favorite Off-Leash Dog Parks in Everett

My wife and I have a tiny chihuahua named Sheriff. He's really nice, but only to adult humans - he doesn't care much for other dogs or children. He also dislikes going to dog parks, but we take him anyway. To be honest, I am not well qualified to give any advice on dog parks, but here goes, nonetheless.

LOWELL PARK (MAP)

The off-leash park in Lowell is the closest to downtown and it's the most basic dog park on our list. It's really just a small, fenced-off dirt/grass area next to the tennis courts at Lowell Park. But, really, what more do dogs need? I like to go there when I'm pressed for time but still want to get outside with Sheriff. It's usually not very busy and it’s a great place to meet neighbors. There are plans to move and improve the Lowell off-leash area, but a timeline hasn’t been published yet.

JAPANESE GULCH (MAP)

Our go-to dog park is the off leash area at Japanese Gulch. Featuring a large fenced area for dogs to run and play, agility equipment and a smaller area for 'shy dogs' like Sheriff, it’s the most well-equipped dog park around. I like it because I can watch other dogs play and have fun while Sheriff walks around smelling things and growling at other dogs. One awesome thing about this dog park is that ground is covered in bark so it cuts down on the muddy paws.

LOGANBERRY LANE PARK (MAP)

We have never been to Loganberry Lane Park, but we have friends that go and say it's their favorite off leash park because "it feels like being out in the woods hiking." It's a large wooded-area behind Kasch Park that backs up to the ball fields. We hear it can get a little muddy and that dogs can get out (if they really want to) so keep an eye on fido and bring a towel.

OTHER FUN/COOL THINGS FOR DOGS

If you ever lose a dog in Snohomish County, there's an amazing group of people on Facebook that will help you search for it. We lost Sheriff once and these people were awesome.

The Dog Spot is a great resource for local dog owners. They offer training, daycare and boarding services at reasonable rates and they're conveniently located in North Everett, near the transit center.
