Out and About in (and Around) Everett with Kids Over Winter Break
If the beeps and honks of that new battery-operated toy are starting to wear on your nerves, or you just need to be assured that there is sentient life outside of your living room, it’s time to put down the coffee cup and hustle those kids out of the house for an adventure.
But where can you go? We’ve got a few ideas for you!
Go for a swim
While it may involve upending the house in a frantic search for swimsuits, goggles, and packable snacks, in the end it’s a win.
Go for a skate
My youngest asks constantly to go ice skating. Roller skating is great too. They have a snack bar (soft pretzels and queso!), video games, and you can wear spandex. What could go wrong? Helmets are your friend.
Make art
Give your dining room table a break from endless sprinkles and glue. Also, someone else cleans up after them. Score.
Let’s bowl
It’s more than an awesome locale for epic movie musical scenes.
Paintball anyone?
Tactical planning is an important life skill.
DoodleBug Sportz Indoor Paintball Arena
Go see a movie
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens December 19. Just sayin’.
Regal Everett Stadium 16 & RPX
Escape the ordinary
Come together as a team to think your way out of a box.
Tuck into an English High Tea
Can’t make it to London this winter? Throw on some finery, perform some perfunctory pinkie finger lifts, and make a reservation for high tea in Everett.
The kid’s museum, Of course!
It’s the most obvious choice if your kids are little. That doesn’t make it bad, it’s good. They have everything: an art studio downstairs, a library in the treehouse, a water room. Fun is a given.
Do something that doesn’t involve money
Believe it or not, it can be done.
Bundle up and go for a walk on Howarth Park Beach (and please throw sticks for my dog when you see him down there).
Go to the animal shelter and try not to adopt anything.
Paint rocks and hide them around town.
Go to a Children’s Storytime at one of our awesome public libraries or just hang out in the kid’s area, play with their toys and check out a gigantic stack of books and movies.
You can do it, parents. Break free of the living room and have some kid-friendly fun out and about this winter break.
